Prof. Tariq Mansoor is presently serving as the Vice-Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. Previously he has also served as Principal, J.N. Medical College, Chief Medical Superintendent, J.N. Medical College Hospital and Chairman, Department of Surgery. He is also the member of Medical Council of India since March 2015 for a period of four years. He is product of the first batch of prestigious Our Lady of Fatima Higher Secondary School, Aligarh. During his school days he has served as House Captain as well as School Captain. He did his MBBS and MS in General Surgery from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, AMU, Aligarh. Jamia Millia Islamia played remarkable role in Indian freedom movement

New Delhi: Chancellor Jamia Millia Islamia and Manipur governor Dr Najma Heptulla said that when the Jamia was facing difficult times, the Mahatma Gandhi had said, I would not hesitate to go about with a begging bowl to save the Jamia. This is the reason that the services of Jamia Millia Islamia are unique and remarkable. The founders of the Jamia gave sleepless nights to the British rulers by initiating war against them. Great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Sarojini Naidu, Rabindranath Tagore and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad tried to make it a national institution.

Najma Heptulla was addressing at the annual certificate distribution function of the Jamia. Dr Harsh Vardhan attended the function as chief guest. In her address, Dr Najma Heptulla said Jamia Millia Islamia greatly helped in fulfilling the digital Bharat and skill Bharathi dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
