I can be raped or killed: Asifa’s lawyer

By Muslim Mirror Desk,

New Delhi: Deepika Singh Rajawat, lawyer fighting case of eight year old minor who was raped and murdered in Kathua on Monday said that she fears for her life after taking up the case.

“Today, I don’t know, I am not in my senses. I can be raped, I can be killed and may be they won’t allow me to practice in court. They (have) isolated me, I don’t know how I can survive,” the advocate was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

“I will tell this to the Supreme Court. I am feeling bad and it’s really unfortunate. You can well imagine my plight. But, I will stand for justice and we would seek justice for the eight-year-old girl,” she added.

Deepika, who is also the chairperson Voice For Rights, an NGO working for the protection of Human Rights, is facing boycott from her counterparts and court staff as well. “Helpers in ladies bar room at trial courts have been directed not to offer me water by Jammu and Kashmir Bar Association, “she had mentioned in a facebook post.

It is pertinent to mention that Deepika is the lawyer of Asifa an 8 year old nomadic Bakerwal girl who was allegedly abducted raped drugged and tortured in a temple, before being dumped in nearby forests in Kathua.
