Dubai: Suhoor delivery through drones

Dubai: The Community Development Authority (CDA) Youth Council as part of their initiative ‘Their Suhoor On Us’ will deliver suhoor through drones. They aim at distributing 32,000 meals to labourers across Dubai and Umm Al Quwain.

The pre-dawn meal will be distributed to labourers using drones. The chosen volunteers will be in charge of helping “pilot and navigate the drone” during the meal distribution phase. The idea was mooted by Youth Council.

One drone is capable of carrying up to 10 food packages (about 10kg). the youth council is in need of volunteers to “maintain visual line of sight, announce when the drone has taken off and landed, and make sure it is on the right route”.

The volunteers will be trained by the Sanad Academy in Dubai, with the training commencing next week.
