Mumbai: 59 YO woman staffer abuses 4-year-old minor student

Mumbai: Crime against minor children are increasingly ever since the Kathua brutal rape and murder of an eight-year-old has made the headlines in the world.

Recently a four-year-old minor student was sexually abused by a 59-year-old woman staff of a reputed School in Mumbai, has now been arrested by the Byculla police, Times now reported.

The minor girl complained about the incident to her cousin since she has been suffering from abdominal pain after the incident. The cousin informed the parents who in turn complained to the school’s principal.

According to a senior Police official, the woman accused is booked under the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and will be produced before the Court on Tuesday.

“We called the parents but they did not approach us at first. We tried to contact them over the phone and with messages but they did not respond,” said the senior police officer.

“We have registered an FIR and arrested the accused,” added zonal DCP Virendra Mishra.
The father of the minor child speaking about the incident said: “She had been complaining of stomach ache for a few days and did not want to go to school. We tried asking her for the reason but she refused to divulge it. However, on Sunday night, she told her cousin that someone was touching her inappropriately. We took her to a hospital and she underwent a gynaecological investigation.”

The school’s principal said: “We called for a meeting of parents and members of the executive body. We called two school helpers who would interact with the children regularly and the girl has identified one of them. The staffer has denied the allegations but we have suspended her pending investigation.”

According to the reports, the woman staffer was living on campus and had been working with the school for the past 25 years and was set to retire in May 2019.

The school now plans to add a clause in its child protection code of conduct said the principal.
“The code of conduct is given to all staffers and we meet with them three times a year for the same. Following the incident, we are adding a clause that should a staffer be found involved in a complaint of child sexual abuse, he or she would be suspended until the inquiry is complete,” the principal added.
