Prof. Tariq Mansoor is presently serving as the Vice-Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. Previously he has also served as Principal, J.N. Medical College, Chief Medical Superintendent, J.N. Medical College Hospital and Chairman, Department of Surgery. Lucknow doctor hangs himself after being denied non-vegetarian food by wife

New Delhi: Denied non-vegetarian food by his wife, a doctor in Lucknow’s Gomti Nagar committed suicide on Thursday.

Identified as Umashankar, the doctor hung himself at his residence at night, after a heated argument with his wife Deepti, a sales tax official, over non-vegetarian food.

Deepti was unaware of her husband’s act until she woke up the next morning, after which she immediately notified the police.

The police have sent the body for the postmortem and began an investigation into the matter.
