Prof. Tariq Mansoor is presently serving as the Vice-Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. Previously he has also served as Principal, J.N. Medical College, Chief Medical Superintendent, J.N. Medical College Hospital and Chairman, Department of Surgery. He is also the member of Medical Council of India since March 2015 for a period of four years. He is product of the first batch of prestigious Our Lady of Fatima Higher Secondary School, Aligarh. During his school days he has served as House Captain as well as School Captain. He did his MBBS and MS in General Surgery from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, AMU, Aligarh. A surgeon by profession with special interest in Breast and Thyroid Diseases, Prof. Tariq Mansoor has 33 years of Teaching and 35 years of Clinical experience. He has 90 publications to his credit and has guided 49 Postgraduate Medical Students for their Thesis as Supervisor / Co-Supervisor

Aligarh, November 25: The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor and his wife, Dr Hameeda Tariq, who is a renowned pediatrician, attended the College Day Celebration, 2017 of Women’s College, AMU as the chief-guest and guest-of-honour respectively.

While speaking as the chief-guest, Prof Mansoor said that he is committed to provide equal opportunities to female students and faculty members. He urged teachers and students to set examples for the nation and community. The Vice Chancellor pointed out that he is also committed towards improving residential lives of female students.

Dr Hameeda Tariq urged students to learn, enjoy and to resist whenever necessary. Reminiscing her student days, Dr Hameeda said that she was able to realise her dreams because of her grooming and training as a student in AMU. “AMU made me what I am today,” she added.

Presenting the annual college report, Prof Naima Gulrez (Principal, Women’s College) pointed out that the multi-cultural atmosphere of the Women’s College attracts students from various parts of India and the world. Thanking the Vice Chancellor for the development in Women’s College, Prof Naima announced that soon the college auditorium will be renovated, five new smart classrooms will be allotted and a new computer lab will be established. “These new developments are the result of Vice Chancellor’s efforts and commitment,” said Prof Naima.

Prof Nigar Zuberi (Coordinator of the programme) initiated the function proceedings. Dr Nazura Usmani and Dr Humaira Afridi conducted the programme. Dr Bushra Hussain proposed the vote of thanks.

On the occasion, ‘Dharm ke Aaine me Muslim Stree’ a book by Dr Shagufta Niyaz (Hindi Section, Women’s College) was also released. College students later conducted a cultural programme.
