Prof. Tariq Mansoor is presently serving as the Vice-Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. Previously he has also served as Principal, J.N. Medical College, Chief Medical Superintendent, J.N. Medical College Hospital and Chairman, Department of Surgery. He is also the member of Medical Council of India since March 2015 for a period of four years. He is product of the first batch of prestigious Our Lady of Fatima Higher Secondary School, Aligarh. During his school days he has served as House Captain as well as School Captain. He did his MBBS and MS in General Surgery from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, AMU, Aligarh. A surgeon by profession with special interest in Breast and Thyroid Diseases, Prof. Tariq Mansoor has 33 years of Teaching and 35 years of Clinical experience. He has 90 publications to his credit and has guided 49 Postgraduate Medical Students for their Thesis as Supervisor / Co-Supervisor

Seminar on Life and Works of Asloob Ahmad Ansari, world-renowned Shakespeare Critic, to be held on May 20 in Saidla Department of Aligarh Muslim University

A Seminar on Life and Works of Prof Asloob Ahmad Ansari, acclaimed in the West as one of the topmost Critic of Blake and Shakespeare, is being organized by Ajmal Ilmi Majlis in the Department of Saidla, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh on May 20 at 11 AM. Prof Ansari won acclaim from many Western luminaries, including the foremost Myth Critic of the 20th century, Northrop Frye and the legendary British poetess, Kathleen Raine. Prof Ansari has an equally high reputation as an Urdu Critic, particularly devoted to Iqbal and Ghalib. He was conferred the Urdu Sahitya Akademi Award and also received President of Pakistan’s Iqbal Centenary Award. An alumnus of AMU and Oxford he served as Chairman of English Department of AMU and edited international journals in Urdu and English Criticism for two decades, to which giants like FR Leavis also contributed. The Seminar is being held to initiate observances on his first Death Anniversary. Born in 1925, he left for his heavenly abode on 3rd May, 2016. The Seminar will have lectures on his English and Urdu Criticism and Literary Theory, as well as on his biographical account. His daughters Prof Iffat Ara and Dr Roshan Ara, his devoted students Mr Abdul Matin and Prof AR Kidwai and Prof Yusuf Amin etc are expected to speak. Participants will include PhD Scholars of English, Urdu, Persian, Arabic, Islamic Studies etc, who will be provided with a Certificate of Participation.
