Prof. Tariq Mansoor is presently serving as the Vice-Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. Previously he has also served as Principal, J.N. Medical College, Chief Medical Superintendent, J.N. Medical College Hospital and Chairman, Department of Surgery. He is also the member of Medical Council of India since March 2015 for a period of four years. He is product of the first batch of prestigious Our Lady of Fatima Higher Secondary School, Aligarh. During his school days he has served as House Captain as well as School Captain. He did his MBBS and MS in General Surgery from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, AMU, Aligarh. A surgeon by profession with special interest in Breast and Thyroid Diseases, Prof. Tariq Mansoor has 33 years of Teaching and 35 years of Clinical experience. He has 90 publications to his credit and has guided 49 Postgraduate Medical Students for their Thesis as Supervisor / Co-Supervisor

AMU VC releases book ‘Knowledge Management in Libraries

Aligarh, September 21: Aligarh Muslim University Vice Chancellor, Lt General Zameer Uddin Shah (retd) recently released a book on ‘Knowledge Management in Libraries’ at the Department of Library and Information Science, AMU. The book is authored by Dr Mohammad Nazim.

Congratulating the author of the book, the Vice Chancellor highlighted the importance of knowledge for individuals as well as society.  He mentioned that in the age of information explosion, extracting relevant information from the store house of information is a challenging task

“Retrieving the pertinent content and taking only those portions of knowledge which are workable and usable for the welfare of the society is very important,” he added.

The Vice Chancellor pointed out that retrieving the right information and its proper utilization will certainly help people to innovate and excel.

While welcoming the gathering, Professor Shabahat Husain, Chairperson, Department of Library and Information Science highlighted the contribution of the department related to the Knowledge Management and also mentioned that the department of Library and information Science, AMU is the only department in the country, which has got the UGC-SAP project in the field of ‘Knowledge management in Libraries’.

Talking on the importance of knowledge, Prof Husain said that there are two kinds of knowledge namely tacit and explicit knowledge and the most important aspect of the capturing of tacit knowledge is related to the experience of human beings and their life sharing acquisitions.

Dr Mohammad Nazim, author of the book, shared his experiences of writing the book and its journey. He explained the theme of the book along with its important features.

Prof Naushad Ali PM proposed the vote of thanks while the programme was conducted by Ms Areeba Tauseef.
