ALIGARH August 6: Professor Samina Khan, Nodal Teacher, Gender Champion Scheme, Faculty of Arts, Aligarh Muslim University presented a copy of the 'Handbook on Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace' published by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, to the AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt. The Handbook, which highlights a detailed scenario of workplace harassment and behaviour construed as friendly although disrespectful towards women, also suggests measures to be implemented by the administrative authorities to prevent any misconduct, sexual misbehaviour and harassment of women and girl students in the University.

Prof. Samina Khan also urged the Vice Chancellor for the implementation of recommendations from the current academic session and wider publicity of the initiative for general awareness of the University community. Prof. Khan said that important points of the Handbook should be incorporated into the admission guide and a link of the Government of India’s recommendations should be uploaded on University’s website.

Assuring a proactive approach towards protecting the dignity of all women and girl students in the University, the Vice Chancellor said that the recommendations in the manual will be implemented in totality.
