Prof. Tariq Mansoor is presently serving as the Vice-Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. Previously he has also served as Principal, J.N. Medical College, Chief Medical Superintendent, J.N. Medical College Hospital and Chairman, Department of Surgery. He is also the member of Medical Council of India since March 2015 for a period of four years. He is product of the first batch of prestigious Our Lady of Fatima Higher Secondary School, Aligarh. During his school days he has served as House Captain as well as School Captain. He did his MBBS and MS in General Surgery from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, AMU, Aligarh. A surgeon by profession with special interest in Breast and Thyroid Diseases, Prof. Tariq Mansoor has 33 years of Teaching and 35 years of Clinical experience. He has 90 publications to his credit and has guided 49 Postgraduate Medical Students for their Thesis as Supervisor / Co-Supervisor

Dr. Mohamed Latheef, Chancellor of the National University of Maldives today visited AMU

ALIGARH August 2: Dr. Mohamed Latheef, Chancellor of the National University of Maldives today visited the Aligarh Muslim University and met the Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Brig. S. Ahmad Ali and other officials of the University to fostering and strengthening cultural relations and mutual understanding between the two universities.

The Aligarh Muslim University has a long history of cultural association and educational bond with Maldives. A distinguished alumnus of the Aligarh Muslim University, Mohamed Amin Hilmy Didi became the first President of Maldives. On September 8, 1983, the Aligarh Muslim University conferred an honorary degree on Mr. Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, the then President of the Republic of Maldives.

Dr. Mohamed Latheef, who is a former Minister of Education and former Ambassador of Maldives to UN and USA, visited AMU on a cultural sponsorship programme of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. He visited the historical buildings of the University including Sir Syed Hall and Sir Syed’s House. He also visited the Maulana Azad Library and saw the rare manuscripts.

AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah briefed the visiting guest about the University and its activities. He also interacted with the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Brig. S. Ahmad Ali.

AMU Registrar Prof. Asfar Ali Khan, Controller, Prof. Javed Akhtar, Finance Officer, Prof. S. M. Javaid Akhtar and Proctor Prof. M. Mohsin Khan were present on this occasion.

The Vice Chancellor presented a memento to Dr. Mohamed Latheef while Mrs. Sabiha Simi Shah presented a memento to Mrs. Shakeela Hameed, wife of the visiting guest Dr. Latheef.
