Prof. Tariq Mansoor is presently serving as the Vice-Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. Previously he has also served as Principal, J.N. Medical College, Chief Medical Superintendent, J.N. Medical College Hospital and Chairman, Department of Surgery. He is also the member of Medical Council of India since March 2015 for a period of four years. He is product of the first batch of prestigious Our Lady of Fatima Higher Secondary School, Aligarh. During his school days he has served as House Captain as well as School Captain. He did his MBBS and MS in General Surgery from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, AMU, Aligarh. A surgeon by profession with special interest in Breast and Thyroid Diseases, Prof. Tariq Mansoor has 33 years of Teaching and 35 years of Clinical experience. He has 90 publications to his credit and has guided 49 Postgraduate Medical Students for their Thesis as Supervisor / Co-Supervisor

Book with contributions of AMU faculty members and scholars published

Aligarh, July 13: Aligarh Muslim University Faculty members and research scholars associated with the Department of English have recently brought out a volume of critical articles on the British Muslim Fiction. The Volume entitled, ‘Believing and Belonging’ is published by Viva Books, New Delhi and is co-edited by Professor Abdur Raheem Kidwai, Director, UGC HRDC, AMU and Professor M Asim Siddiqui, Department of English, AMU.

An eminent British fiction scholar, Dr Claire Chambers, University of York, UK, has contributed foreword to this volume, acclaiming it as ‘A collection welcome onto the world stage of Muslim literary studies.’

The 146 page book is a study evaluating the works of contemporary British Muslim novelists – Leila Aboulela, Robin Yasin-Kassab, Monica Ali, Qaisra Shahraz, Mohsin Hamid and Sarfaraz Manzoor.

Among the contributors to the volume are Professor Massodul Hasan, Professor Abdur Raheem Kidwai , Dr Ayesha Munira, Dr Nazia Hasan , Dr Md Sajidul Islam, Dr A K Muneer, Mr Sujan Mondal and Ms Sadaf Husain (all associated with the Department of English, AMU). The book also has contributions by Dr Shuby Abidi, Jamia Millia Islamia and Dr Rafat Ali, Jadavpur University.
