IGNOU V.C. Prof. Aslam kept on Forced Leave

New Delhi 9.6.2016: The Delhi High Court has issued notice to the ministry of Human Resource Development ministry as it was withholding inquiry report by MHRD since five and half year.

In this connection, Educationist Dr Mohammad Farooque Khan told that an inquiry against Prof. Mohammad Aslam Vice-Chancellor of Indra Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) was instituted by MHRD in November 2014. Apart of that IGNOU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mohammad Aslam was directed to go on leave by the inquiry officer appointed by MHRD.

Dr Mohammad Farooque said that Prof. M. Aslam filed a write petition in the high court in this connection and in the hearing held on 14 September 2015 the counsel for MHRD informed the court that the report has been and has been placed before president of India on 03 September 2015 and a decision will be taken with 15 days.

He said that in the meantime Prof. M. Aslam was informed by MHRD in a RTI reply that the final report was received by MHRD on 02 September 2015 and it was placed before the president on 24 February 2016. If means MHRD was withholding inquiry report for five and half months and failed to honour Delhi high court order. Which stated that the report should be placed before president of India within three days.

Dr Mohammad Farooque said that MHRD is not delivering justice to IGNOU Vice-Chancellor Prof. M. Aslam and is road blocking deliverance of justice by Delhi high court by taking and adjournment on one or other pretext to ensure that Prof. Aslam remain on forced leave. In the meantime IGNOU is headless.

Dr Mohammad Farooque Khan questioned that is not Prof. Aslam selectively persecuted on the basis of his religious tag? He posed another question why MHRD want to ensure that the biggest open university of world IGNOU remain headless?

Dr Mohammad Farooque Khan said that MHRD should deliver justice to IGNOU and its Vice-Chancellor Prof. M. Aslam. He appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene in the matter personally.
