Prof. Tariq Mansoor is presently serving as the Vice-Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. Previously he has also served as Principal, J.N. Medical College, Chief Medical Superintendent, J.N. Medical College Hospital and Chairman, Department of Surgery. He is also the member of Medical Council of India since March 2015 for a period of four years. He is product of the first batch of prestigious Our Lady of Fatima Higher Secondary School, Aligarh. During his school days he has served as House Captain as well as School Captain. He did his MBBS and MS in General Surgery from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, AMU, Aligarh. A surgeon by profession with special interest in Breast and Thyroid Diseases, Prof. Tariq Mansoor has 33 years of Teaching and 35 years of Clinical experience. He has 90 publications to his credit and has guided 49 Postgraduate Medical Students for their Thesis as Supervisor / Co-Supervisor

Brig. S. Ahmad Ali inaugurated the Psychophysiology Laboratory

ALIGARH June 8: The officiating Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, Brig. S. Ahmad Ali inaugurated the Psychophysiology Laboratory in the Department of Psychology. Prof. NAK Durrani, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences and the faculty members of the department were present on the occasion. Prof. Akbar Husain, Coordinator, DRS-SAP (Phase-I) played a key role in establishing the laboratory.

Welcoming the guests, Prof. (Hafiz) Mohd. Ilyas Khan, Chairman, Department of Psychology, highlighted the academic and developmental needs of the Department briefly.

Dr. Shah Mohd. Khan, Associate Professor demonstrated the equipments installed in the laboratory which included a Biofeedback imported from Germany. The equipment will help to measure electrical activity in the brain, body temperature and Blood Pulse of subject through Electroencephalogram (EEG). This equipment will be used for research, diagnosis and therapy of subjects suffering from Anxiety, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Chronic Pain, Depression, Epilepsy, Learning Disabilities, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Pre-Menstrual Syndrome, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Sleep Disorders, Stroke, Traumatic Brain Injury and Blood Pressure Variability.

Brig. Ali said that a faculty member should be sent to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for advance knowledge in EEG testing and interpretation of results. He assured that this kind of visit will be sponsored by the University.
