Prof. Tariq Mansoor is presently serving as the Vice-Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. Previously he has also served as Principal, J.N. Medical College, Chief Medical Superintendent, J.N. Medical College Hospital and Chairman, Department of Surgery. He is also the member of Medical Council of India since March 2015 for a period of four years. He is product of the first batch of prestigious Our Lady of Fatima Higher Secondary School, Aligarh. During his school days he has served as House Captain as well as School Captain. He did his MBBS and MS in General Surgery from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, AMU, Aligarh. A surgeon by profession with special interest in Breast and Thyroid Diseases, Prof. Tariq Mansoor has 33 years of Teaching and 35 years of Clinical experience. He has 90 publications to his credit and has guided 49 Postgraduate Medical Students for their Thesis as Supervisor / Co-Supervisor

AMU VC Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah will launch the “River Ganga Repository”

ALIGARH May 16: The Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah will launch the “River Ganga Repository” in the Maulana Azad Library in order to collect and disseminate knowledge on the River Ganga in printed and digital form. The Vice Chancellor will formally launch the Repository on May 17, 2016 at the Maulana Azad Library at 10 am.

AMU Librarian, Dr. Nabi Hasan, said that this project is aimed at collecting, organizing and making accessible to the world the literature and other information pertaining to the river Ganga. To start with, he added, AMU has already gathered a number of books, reports, dissertations and theses which have been made part of this Repository. He said that this knowledge may be utilized in cleaning and rejuvenating the River Ganga.

Dr. Hasan said that the AMU has already implemented projects on Ganga River and a number of other activities in the form of projects and researches are undergoing in the University. AMU now wishes to give impetus to this important mission of restoring India’s pristine river to its former glory, he pointed out.

Dr. Hasan clarified that the AMU has especially created this Section in the Central Library of the AMU and a Link has been created at http://www.amu.ac.in which will guide through the relevant literature on and about the holy river Ganga.

The Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen Zameer Uddin Shah (Retd) will be the Patron, while Padmshri Prof. Sachchidanand Sahay will be the advisor and Dr. Nabi Hasan will be the Coordinator of this Project.
