Tracing the critical condition of Persian literature and poetry under Safavids during the same period, Prof. Safavi said that hundreds of Iranian scholars and poets migrated to India and settled here. Akbar’s court historian, Abul Fazl laid down a new trend in history writing and his gigantic works A’in-i-Akbari and Akbarnama have been universally acknowledged as greatest history books produced in medieval India. A’in-i-Akbari’s third volume is an encyclopaedia about India’s history and culture.

Prof. Safavi pointed out that one of the Akbar’s significant contributions to knowledge and learning was the establishment of a Translation Bureau which took up the translation of Sanskrit and Hindi classics and religious books into Persian and vice versa.
