AMU VC Forced to Withdraw the Decision Of Academic Council

Press release
Putting an end to the ongoing controversy regarding the decision of Academic Council, in which it had sought the reservation (Internal-Ship) to the wards of AMU employees regardless of their place of study. The Vice Chancellor while admitting the mistake of passing such a decision agreed with the delegation and termed it unconstitutional. “Yes, It amounts to “Contempt of Court”, and I have called an emergency meeting of Academic Council tomorrow, in which the decision will be cancelled and status quo will be maintained” , he said while interacting with the group of research scholars who had called him at his office today to apprise him about their concerns regarding the decision. The Pro Vice-Chancellor and Registrar were also present in the meeting along with the Proctor and DSW. While interacting with the Research Scholars, VC asked the students to trust his intentions. We can’t survive without the “Minority Character” and we are not going to do anything, whatsoever, which weakens our case of minority in Supreme Court, he added.
It is important to mention that the same group of research scholars had called the registrar on Saturday and expreesed their stiff opposition to any kind of such reservation and had sought a meeting with VC.They had termed the decision unconstitutional, which will hamper the case of minority case of AMU.The research Scholars present in the meeting expressed their happiness regarding the revoking of decision. It was unconstitutional and was going to benefit only a small section of community, which is educationally and economically very well, they said, while coming out of the meeting.
