Victoria Gate is symbol of Aligarian etiquette, manners and culture

" Victoria Gate & Bab-e-Syed of AMU "
The distance between Victoria Gate and Bab-e-Syed of AMU is not even one kilometer but the transition of university from Victoria Gate to Bab-e-Syed reveals a history .
It was portals of Victoria gate that we, launched sustained agitation for restoration of minority status of university in early 1970s & in between encountered Dadri incident apart of harsh and unjustified reactions from university authorities who were bent upon to appease power in those days !
At last , in 1981 , AMU ( Amendment ) Act 1981 was passed by parliament which entrusted responsibilities on AMU to take up educational and cultural advancement of Indian Muslims !
But then Bab-e-Syed was constructed to over shadow glory of

Victoria Gate which is symbol of Aligarian etiquette , manners and culture and we began losing charm of yesteryear !

Then on 11 January , intentions have been revealed by central government to subjugate AMU once again and turn it just into another department of ministry of HRD !
When we fought for restoration of AMU minority status , we were young with dreamy eyes and some of us lost careers in love of Aligarh . But now we are at fag end of our life when our children are settled and we have not only completed our life span but in fact have enjoyed every moment on AMU roads & dhabas !
As we have nothing to lose now , we commit ourselves to devote in every way to struggle for saving AMU and its secular tradition !
