Students Aghast over the Decision of Academic Council

Press Release

The Students fraternity of AMU while strongly criticizing the decision of academic council have vowed to fight against any such policy aimed to derail the mission of Sir Syed and the minority community. The Decision of Academic Council, in which the resolution has been passed to grant Internal Ship to all the wards of employees regardless of the place of study is a rigorous policy aimed to hamper the cause of minority issue still pending in the supreme court of India. The AMU Research Scholars strongly condemn the policy and request the administration to stop implementing any such reservation. In addition to this the reservation will see the AMU limited to only few sections of society and the marginalized, economically poor and educationally backward class among the community will not get access to the university. The AMU Research Scholars also believe the reservation of any such kind is unconstitutional in nature and questioned the timing of this decision. The research scholars from different halls are planning to meet the honorable VC on Monday to apprise him about the unrest among the students regarding the policy. After the meeting with VC, the future course of action will be decided and the students will be apprised about the outcome of the meeting.Today while Speaking about the policy, Tawheed Alam, senior research scholar from Law department turned the decision unconstitutional and termed it a possibility of blocking the minority character of AMU.Mudabbir Ali Chaudhrary, a senior student said that the decision is disheartening the internal students as they are not ready to share their seats among others.Another research Scholar, Mannan Wani, while questioning the timing of the decision said, that the Teachers have already been benefited from the university, they should morally give a chance to those who have not got any benefit from AMU.While continuing he said, the reservation to economically weak and educationally backward sections of the society is a need of the hour and AMU should actually work for that.the others present in the meeting were, Yasir Arafat, Mudabir Ali chaudary, Rizwan Ahmad, Shahnawaz ahmad, Munzir Rahman,  Haider Ali, Qasim, salman and others.
