Prof. Tariq Mansoor is presently serving as the Vice-Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. Previously he has also served as Principal, J.N. Medical College, Chief Medical Superintendent, J.N. Medical College Hospital and Chairman, Department of Surgery. He is also the member of Medical Council of India since March 2015 for a period of four years. He is product of the first batch of prestigious Our Lady of Fatima Higher Secondary School, Aligarh. During his school days he has served as House Captain as well as School Captain. He did his MBBS and MS in General Surgery from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, AMU, Aligarh. A surgeon by profession with special interest in Breast and Thyroid Diseases, Prof. Tariq Mansoor has 33 years of Teaching and 35 years of Clinical experience. He has 90 publications to his credit and has guided 49 Postgraduate Medical Students for their Thesis as Supervisor / Co-Supervisor

AMU VC inaugurated Centre for Interfaith Understanding

ALIGARH January 27: The Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah (Retd.) inaugurated a Centre for Interfaith Understanding at the Sir Syed Academy in order to fulfill Sir Syed’s dream of making society more tolerant and liberal.

Addressing on this occasion, Lt. Gen. Shah said that AMU should take an initiative to process the interfaith dialogue. He said that this Centre will examine the commonality of all religion to encourage understanding between all major religions.

Delivering a lecture on the contribution of Aligarh Muslim University, Prof. Masoodul Hasan, former Chairman, Department of English said that Sir Syed Ahmad Khan believed in having an ethical and pragmatic approach, and he was a pioneer in India to promote scientific temperament. One of the main pursuits of Sir Syed was to bring together the distanced community respecting tenets of each other’s faith.

Prof. Masoodul Hasan said that Sir Syed wrote Tab’eenul Kalam, the first major work on comparative religion in post-1857 era.

Dr. Abid Raza Bedar, former Director, Khuda Bakhsh Oriental Public Library, Patna said that to mark Sir Syed’s bicentenary birth anniversary, a memorable eventful and historic occasion, it is desirable that a centre for creating interfaith understanding between the Indian religions be established so that the words of the of founding father of our great institution may become a reality.

Prof. Tariq Ahmad, Director, Sir Syed Academy said that “today is a very historic day to establish a centre for understanding with other faiths”. He also proposed a vote of thanks.
