Prof. Tariq Mansoor is presently serving as the Vice-Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. Previously he has also served as Principal, J.N. Medical College, Chief Medical Superintendent, J.N. Medical College Hospital and Chairman, Department of Surgery. He is also the member of Medical Council of India since March 2015 for a period of four years. He is product of the first batch of prestigious Our Lady of Fatima Higher Secondary School, Aligarh. During his school days he has served as House Captain as well as School Captain. He did his MBBS and MS in General Surgery from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, AMU, Aligarh. A surgeon by profession with special interest in Breast and Thyroid Diseases, Prof. Tariq Mansoor has 33 years of Teaching and 35 years of Clinical experience. He has 90 publications to his credit and has guided 49 Postgraduate Medical Students for their Thesis as Supervisor / Co-Supervisor

AMU decided to hold its Annual Convocation on February 27, 2016

ALIGARH January 30: The Aligarh Muslim University has decided to hold its Annual Convocation on February 27, 2016 at the Gulistan-e-Syed of the University.

A consultative meeting was held today under the Chairmanship of the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Brig. S. Ahmad Ali to finalize the arrangement for the 63rd Annual Convocation.

AMU has decided to award D. Lit., honoris causa, to Dr. Frank Islam, a US based philanthropist and entrepreneur. The University will confer honorary D.Sc. degree on Dr. Ashok Seth, a noted cardiologist and Chairman & Chief Cardiologist, Escorts Heart Institute & Research Centre, New Delhi. Both are the alumni of the Aligarh Muslim University.

AMU Chancellor Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, Spiritual Head of the Dawoodi Bohra Community will preside over the convocation.

The Controller of Examinations, Prof. Javaid Akhtar said that the University will award degrees and medals to around six thousand students including 3385 graduate, 1746 postgraduate, 92 M.Phil., 495 PhD degrees and 206 medals.
