OBITUARY OF A GREAT AMU HOCKEY MAN SYED ALI SIDDIQUI by Dr Mohsin Raza

I am sad to write obituary of Mr Syed Ali Siddiqui, my senior partner in Morrison court in 1955. He was UP state Player even as a junior. He was deemed as fastest left out of the world in 1960’s,a former AMU Hockey Captain 1957-58 was an angry man.He had a fight with Habul Mukerji ,the Indian manager. He was therefore not selected to India's team.Frustrated,he left India and migrated to Karachi, where again he became victim of regional Politics. He retired as Custom Superintendent. He passed away in Oct 2015.He was my senior room partner in Morrison court.I called him Syed Bhai and he looked after me as younger brother. I am very sad to learn his sad demise from internet. He was great sportsman. Only after Syed Bhai left India,Ali Sayeed again an AMU player of Gorakhpur was selected in UP and played for India.India won got Gold cup 1964.
