Prof. Tariq Mansoor is presently serving as the Vice-Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. Previously he has also served as Principal, J.N. Medical College, Chief Medical Superintendent, J.N. Medical College Hospital and Chairman, Department of Surgery. He is also the member of Medical Council of India since March 2015 for a period of four years. He is product of the first batch of prestigious Our Lady of Fatima Higher Secondary School, Aligarh. During his school days he has served as House Captain as well as School Captain. He did his MBBS and MS in General Surgery from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, AMU, Aligarh. A surgeon by profession with special interest in Breast and Thyroid Diseases, Prof. Tariq Mansoor has 33 years of Teaching and 35 years of Clinical experience. He has 90 publications to his credit and has guided 49 Postgraduate Medical Students for their Thesis as Supervisor / Co-Supervisor

Prof Asad U Khan elected as Fellow of Indian Academy of Microbiological Sciences

ALIGARH December 11: Prof Asad U Khan, Coordinator, Interdisciplinary Biotechnology Unit, Aligarh Muslim University has been elected as Fellow of Indian Academy of Microbiological Sciences (FAMS) during the inaugural function of the award ceremony, which was held at TNAU, Coimbatore.

The Academy, earlier called as Association of Microbiologists of India, was established in 1938 and is one of the oldest and reputed scientific organizations of the country. Since its inception, it has contributed significantly towards development of microbiology, particularly in areas of research and teaching in country.

Prof Khan has also been elected as Fellow of Biotechnology Research Society India (FBRS) in the year 2014. The fellow award was conferred in inaugural function of an International Conference on Emerging Trends in Biotechnology held at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Prof Khan has also been recognized earlier by conferring Young Scientist Award and Alembic Award in 2006 and 2009 respectively. Department of Biotechnology, Government of India has also recognized his outstanding research work in the field of Medical Microbiology and conferred upon him a Prestigious National Bioscience Award for Career Development in 2012. Recently AMU has also bestowed upon him First Outstanding Research Award of the year.

Prof Khan has explored many mechanisms of antibiotic resistance in bacteria and developed novel therapeutic approaches to combat with such infections. He is author of 3 books and over 130 research articles in the journal of international repute. He is member of many National and International organizations.
